What is our vision?
At Academia.edu we believe that research has been neglected by a lot of social media developments in the last few years. Our goal is to change that. Our vision is for every researcher in the world to check Academia.edu every morning, or multiple times a day, and find it an indispensable tool for keeping in touch with their research community.
Who are the founders of Academia.edu?
Academia.edu is based in San Francisco, and has a small elite team of four people. Two of the founders (Richard Price and Ben Lund) are graduates of Oxford and Cambridge, one with a Ph.D, and both are ‘aliens of extraordinary ability’ according to the US immigration office.
Richard Price previously built PeopleRadar, one of the largest apps on the Facebook Platform, and Ben Lund led the development of Connotea, which is one of the largest academic bookmarking applications on the web. Bios of all the team members are here.
We obsessively care about building an awesome product, and hiring passionate and smart people to make this happen.
